He said the region’s lost glory can only be restored if everyone takes responsibility and acts with sincerity.
In a statement released in Awka, Ejiofor said the South-East has suffered serious decline.
He noted that many towns that were once lively have become silent. Markets are empty, schools are neglected, and fear has taken over many communities.
He blamed the situation not only on outsiders but also on people from the region who have turned against their own land.
Ejiofor said the region is now filled with acts of violence and crime.
He condemned those who kidnap, rob, and kill innocent people, turning forests into places of terror.
He warned that those who destroy their land in the name of fighting for freedom are misleading the people.
According to him, rebuilding the South-East must begin with inner cleansing and truth.
He explained that no leader or saviour can restore the region if deceit and crime remain.
He stressed that justice and peace must come from the conscience of the people.
He expressed hope that the region will rise again when truth, unity, and peace become its guiding principles.
“South-East indigenes must join hands to rebuild the region. The restoration of the region’s lost glory must begin with the people,” he said.
